The Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO), Mr Bill Wong, paid his first official visit to Ottawa on December 1 since assuming office. The inaugural trip to Ottawa reflected HKETO’s commitment to strengthening economic and trade relations between Hong Kong and Canada, and to engaging closely with federal counterparts and key stakeholders.
During his trip, Mr Wong had an official visit to the Global Affairs Canada. He met with officials from the Greater China Division, during which both sides discussed topics of common interest, including bilateral trade and investment opportunities for Canadian companies.
Mr Wong also paid a courtesy call to Senator Yuen-pau Woo. They exchanged views on Canada–Hong Kong relations, latest economic developments, and opportunities to deepen collaboration in areas benefiting both Canada and Hong Kong.
During the meetings, Mr Wong introduced major policy initiatives of the 2025 Policy Address, highlighting the “bringing in and going global” measures for Mainland enterprises that use Hong Kong as a platform for overseas expansion.
“In line with the national policy and direction of encouraging Mainland enterprises to ‘go global’, Hong Kong is best placed to support Mainland enterprises to expand their international business. This enhanced role of Hong Kong further consolidates its position as an international business and trade hub,” he said.
HKETO will continue to strengthen connections with government officials, business leaders, and community partners of various cities in Canada as part of its mandate to promote closer economic and cultural ties between Hong Kong and Canada.
新任香港經貿處處長首次出訪渥太華
香港駐多倫多經濟貿易辦事處（香港經貿處）處長王國彪在十二月一日首次官式訪問渥太華，標誌着香港經貿處致力加強港加經貿關係，以及深化與加拿大政府及主要持分者的聯繫。
王國彪到訪加拿大政府環球事務部，並與該部大中華分部代表會面，就包括雙邊貿易及加拿大企業投資機遇等共同關注的議題進行深入交流。
王國彪亦拜會加拿大參議員胡元豹，雙方就加港關係、最新經濟發展與兩地合作機遇交換意見。
在上述會面期間，王國彪簡介二○二五年《施政報告》的主要政策措施，包括香港積極發揮「出海」平台作用，協助內地企業「引進來、走出去」的舉措。
他說：「在配合國家鼓勵內地企業『出海』的政策和方向下，香港具備最佳優勢支援內地企業拓展國際業務，進一步鞏固香港作為國際商貿樞紐的地位。」
香港經貿處將繼續與加拿大各地的政府機構、商界與社區夥伴保持緊密聯繫，履行其促進加港經濟與文化交流的使命。
