Hong Kong-Markham Tech Exchange 2025 promotes innovation in AI, robotics, and PropTech

Co-organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO), Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) (Canada), the City of Markham, and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong-Markham Tech Exchange 2025 was held on September 24 in a hybrid format, continuing its mission to foster international collaboration in innovation technology between Hong Kong and Markham, Ontario.

The event, drawing more than 100 participants across the globe, focussed on the latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and Property Technology (PropTech), with a spotlight on market opportunities and innovation strategies in both Hong Kong and Canada.

Held at York University’s Markham Campus, the event featured panel discussions, a mini-trade show, and business networking sessions. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and tech pioneers from both regions.

Speaking at the event, the Acting Director of the HKETO, Mr Gavin Yeung, said that Hong Kong continues to play a unique role as a two-way gateway connecting international businesses with fast-growing markets in Mainland China and the Asia-Pacific region.

“Hong Kong’s vibrant innovation and technology ecosystem is driven by a wealth of talent, world-class infrastructure, and strong government commitment,” he said. “Over the years, Hong Kong has implemented various policies and made significant investments to nurture and enhance support for start-ups.”

He added that platforms such as the Hong Kong-Markham Tech Exchange are instrumental in fostering global partnerships and driving cross-border innovation between like-minded cities.

Other speakers included City Councillor of Markham, Mr Alan Ho; and the Consul General of Canada to Hong Kong and Macau, Mr Charles E. Reeves.

The Head of InvestHK Canada, Mr Christopher Chen, also discussed with industry leaders about Hong Kong’s innovative and technology (I&T) developments, and how Hong Kong can support I&T entrepreneurs to explore the business opportunities there. Other speakers also shared their first-hand experience in exchanging between Markham and Hong Kong.

「香港—萬錦科技交流研討會2025」推廣人工智能、機械人技術及房地產科技發展

由香港駐多倫多經濟貿易辦事處(香港經貿處)、投資推廣署加拿大辦事處、萬錦市政府及香港加拿大商會聯合舉辦的「香港—萬錦科技交流研討會2025」在九月二十四日以混合模式舉行。活動旨在促進香港與加拿大安大略省萬錦市之間在創新科技的國際合作。

研討會吸引來自世界各地逾百位參加者,重點探討人工智能、機械人技術及房地產科技的最新發展,並聚焦香港與加拿大在市場機遇與創新策略上的合作潛力。

是次活動於約克大學萬錦校園舉行,設有專題論壇、商貿展覽及商業交流環節。與會者與來自港加兩地的業界領袖、企業家及創科界前駒親身交流,探索合作機會。

香港經貿處署理處長楊江鋒在會上致辭時表示,香港一直擔當雙向聯絡人的角色,連繫國際企業與中國內地及亞太地區等高速增長市場。

他說:「香港的創科生態系統充滿活力,憑藉人才優勢、世界級基建及政府大力支持而持續發展。多年來,香港推行多項政策並投入大量資源,積極支援培育與發展初創企業。」

他續指,是次研討會正是推動城市之間合作與創新的理想平台。

其他出席嘉賓包括萬錦市議員何胡景以及加拿大駐香港及澳門總領事芮強(Charles E. Reeves)。

投資推廣署加拿大辦事處投資推廣總監陳立智亦與業界領袖討論香港的創科發展,以及香港如何協助創科企業家在香港發掘商機,其他講者亦分享在萬錦市與香港的交流經驗。
