Business leaders and stakeholders gathered on September 9 at a business seminar hosted by the Canada China Business Council (CCBC) in Toronto and supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO) to explore the vast commercial potential of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) — one of the world’s most dynamic and economically significant regions.
The event, titled “Unlocking Greater Bay Area Business Opportunities”, featured expert insights on market access, infrastructure, and cross-border collaboration.
In his remarks, the Acting Director of the HKETO, Mr Gavin Yeung, emphasised Hong Kong’s pivotal role in the GBA’s development.
“As an international financial centre grounded in the rule of law and common law traditions, Hong Kong serves as a trusted and effective gateway for Canadian businesses seeking access to the GBA and the wider Chinese market,” Mr Yeung said. “With unparalleled connectivity, transparent regulatory frameworks, and strong support for innovation, Hong Kong is well positioned to support companies from around the world to scale across Asia.”
Mr Yeung also highlighted the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government’s commitment to enhancing regional integration, supporting cross-boundary business initiatives, and creating favourable conditions for international investment and entrepreneurship. He encouraged the business sectors in Canada to seize the opportunities to benefit from the development of the GBA.
The seminar featured the Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Corporate Services Group, Mr Callan Anderson, who shared practical insights on operating in the GBA and leveraging Hong Kong’s competitive advantages, including its financial infrastructure, professional services, and low and simple tax regime. Attendees gained a comprehensive overview of the GBA’s position as a hub for advanced manufacturing, innovation and trade.
The GBA comprises Hong Kong, Macao, and nine cities in Guangdong Province. With a population of over 87 million and a combined GDP of around RMB 14 trillion in 2024.
香港經貿處推廣香港在粵港澳大灣區發展中的策略角色
由加中貿易理事會主辦、獲香港駐多倫多經濟貿易辦事處(香港經貿處)支持的商務研討會於九月九日在多倫多舉行,吸引多位商界領袖及持份者參與,共同探討粵港澳大灣區(大灣區)作為世界其中一個最具經濟潛力的灣區的龐大商機。
該研討會以「開創粵港澳大灣區商機」為主題,內容涵蓋拓展市場、基建設施及跨境合作的專業分析。
香港經貿處署理處長楊江鋒在會上致辭時強調,香港在大灣區發展中擔當舉足輕重的角色。
他說:「香港乃建基於法治及普通法制度的國際金融中心,為加拿大企業拓展大灣區以至中國市場的不二之選。香港擁有無可比擬的聯繫優勢、高透明度的監管制度,以及對創科的大力投入,有助來自世界各地的企業拓展亞洲市場。」
他又指出,香港特別行政區政府致力推動區域融合、支援跨境商貿合作,並為環球投資及創業營造有利條件。他鼓勵加拿大商界把握機遇,積極參與大灣區建設並從中受惠。
會上Hong Kong Corporate Services Group行政總裁Callan Anderson亦分享其在大灣區營商的實務經驗,並介紹香港在金融基建、專業服務及簡單低稅制方面的競爭優勢。與會者亦藉此了解大灣區作為高端製造業、創新及貿易樞紐的地位。
粵港澳大灣區由香港、澳門以及廣東省九個城市組成,總人口超過8 700萬人,二○二四年地區生產總值約達14萬億元人民幣。
