HKETO promotes Hong Kong cinema at TCCFF

The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Toronto (HKETO) supported the world premiere screening of Hong Kong movie “Kung Fu Juniors” on October 18 during the Toronto Chinese Canadian Film Festival (TCCFF). World renowned action legendary Sammo Hung graced the opening night screening with veteran director Clifton Ko.

The HKETO emphasised Hong Kong’s role as an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchanges. Hong Kong has long been known for its cinematic legacy — from action movies to crime thrillers. Hong Kong movies have touched global audiences with their distinctive blend of action, drama and cultural richness.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Government remains committed to supporting the creative industry. In the 2025–26 financial year, over HK$1.3 billion has been approved under the Film Development Fund backing more than 120 productions and nurturing over 110 new directors and producers.

Hong Kong offers not just funding and policy support, but also a dynamic creative ecosystem.  It has world-class crews, facilities, and access to Asia’s growing markets. Many Hong Kong films and creative talents have gone on to win international awards.

Running between October 18 and 24, three selected Hong Kong movies were featured in the festival this year. Besides “Kung Fu Juniors”, “An Abandoned Team” and “The Prosecutor” were also highlighted in the festival.
