Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO), Ms Emily Mo, attended the 2022 Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs (ACCE) Awards Gala on April 23 and presented the Best Asia Pacific Business Award. 

Speaking at the opening of the Awards Gala, Ms Mo complimented the ACCE in their continued efforts to recognise the achievements of outstanding Chinese Canadian entrepreneurs and to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship among the Chinese Canadian community, in particular during the challenging times of the pandemic. 

Year 2022 celebrates the 25^th anniversary of the award, and this year also marks an important milestone for Hong Kong as the city is celebrating the 25^th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. “The theme of ‘A New Era – Stability • Prosperity • Opportunity’ represents Hong Kong’s achievements over the past 25 years, and underscores our anticipation for and confidence in a brighter future,” Ms Mo said.

“With the staunch support from the Central Government, Hong Kong has successfully implemented “one country, two systems” while sustaining its role as an international metropolis,” Ms Mo continued.

Noting global economic growth is being driven by the Eastern part of the world, Hong Kong plays an increasingly significant role as a platform for doing business in Asia and Indo-Pacific, including the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Ms Mo moved on to point out that Canada and Hong Kong shared similar business culture and systems. “Hong Kong has remained one of Canada’s top ten trading markets in the past decade.  In terms of investment, Canadian direct investment flows to Hong Kong more than tripled to 4.6 billion Canadian dollars, making the city the second-largest destination worldwide for Canadian direct investment abroad in 2020,” Ms Mo said.

Before closing, Ms Mo encouraged Canadian entrepreneurs to make use of the Hong Kong platform to expand and grow in Asia. She also complimented the awardees on their contribution to the Canadian, Hong Kong and other global business markets.

HKETO has been sponsoring the Best Asia Pacific Business Award since its inception in 2010. 

The award recognises those entrepreneurs who have made a business success by using Hong Kong as a platform for their business expansion to the Asia Pacific region.

The 2022 ACCE's Best Asia Pacific Business Award was given to CEO of Organika Health Products Mr Aaron Chin.  The company has its products carried in 5,000 outlets in 26 countries and places including Hong Kong.
