Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO), Ms Emily Mo, briefs politicians and international business leaders on Hong Kong's latest developments at the 2023 Economic and Trade Forum Summit Conference on May 5.
Speaking at its inaugural plenary session, Ms Mo mentioned about the unique advantages Hong Kong enjoys under the “one country, two systems” as the only place in the world where the global advantages from the West and the East come together in a single city. Hong Kong has never stopped its efforts to play the unparalleled role as one of the world's most dynamic and prosperous economies.
Ms Mo pointed out that the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has expedited various infrastructure developments during pandemic. Besides, the HKSAR Government also rolled out proposals on improving governance at the district level.
“This is an important move to strengthen the district governance structure so as to enhance the efficacy of district governance," Ms Mo said.
Ms Mo said she believed that the economic outlook for Hong Kong in 2023 is positive, and that the city's relationship with Canada will continue to grow and strengthen in the coming years. Noting that Hong Kong has removed all restrictions for travelling, she encouraged participants of the forum to visit the city, to see and to experience, and explore the business opportunities there.
Organised by the Xinflix Entrepreneur Club, the 2023 Economic and Trade Forum Summit Conference is a full day hybrid business forum attended by political and business leaders from Canada and other countries.
香港經貿處處長向國際政商領袖介紹香港最新發展
香港駐多倫多經濟貿易辦事處（香港經貿處）處長巫菀菁於五月五日舉行的2023春季經濟高峰論壇上，向與會政要及國際商界領袖介紹香港的最新發展。
巫菀菁在活動致辭時談及香港在「一國兩制」下獨享的優勢。她表示，香港是全球唯一享有東方與西方優勢交匯的城市，作為世上最為繁榮和充滿活力的經濟體之一，香港一直致力發揮無可比擬的重要角色。
巫菀菁指出，香港特別行政區政府於疫情期間加快落實各個基建發展項目，亦推出多項建議方案，完善地區治理。
她說：「這是強化地區治理架構，以達致提升地區治理效能的重要一步。」
巫菀菁對香港2023年的經濟前景感到樂觀，並相信在未來數年，香港與加拿大的關係會繼續發展，且更為緊密。她提到香港已撤銷所有旅遊入境限制，鼓勵與會者到訪香港，親身發掘香港的無限商機。
2023春季經濟高峰論壇由新動力企業家俱樂部主辦，為期一日的論壇以混合模式舉行，以便加拿大及其他國家的政商界領袖參與。
