Director of HKETO promotes Hong Kong's business advantages in Vancouver

Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO), Ms Emily Mo, visited Vancouver on May 23 to promote the unique advantages of doing business in Hong Kong.

Ms Mo spoke at the "Hong Kong: Your Gateway to Asia" lunch workshop co-hosted by the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association (Vancouver Section) and WeWork.  She introduced to the audience about the business environment of Hong Kong and the advantages of doing business in the city.  She encouraged Canadian companies to make use of the Hong Kong platform to expand into Asia.  Around 40 start-ups, shared workspaces users of WeWork and representatives of the business sector in Vancouver attended the workshop. 

After the lunch workshop, Ms Mo called on the Mayor of Richmond Malcolm Brodie at the Richmond City Hall.  She briefed him on the latest developments of Hong Kong and exchanged views with him on the trade and investment relations between Hong Kong and Canada.  Ms Mo invited the Mayor to visit Hong Kong and experience the  Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link commissioned last year.

In the evening, Ms Mo visited the teak boat display organised by the Dragon Boat BC at Parq Vancouver and attended the 2019 West Coast Networking Reception organised by the Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs.  The 1986 World Exposition was held in the City of Vancouver which received six original teak boats donated by Hong Kong.  Sponsored by HKETO, Dragon Boat BC will exhibit the same dragon boats  in various locations in Vancouver in the coming year to further promote dragon boating in Canada.
