The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO) hosted a gathering with Hong Kong students studying at different universities in Toronto on February 16.
In her welcoming remarks, Director of the HKETO Miss Kathy Chan gave a brief introduction of the role of HKETO and the office’s mission in fostering exchanges between Hong Kong and Canada. She also spoke on the latest developments of the Hong Kong-Canada relations and the close human ties between the two places.
Miss Chan told the students that Hong Kong is a place full of opportunities and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has introduced various measures to attract and facilitate talents from all over the world to work and live in Hong Kong. Apart from encouraging the students to return to Hong Kong after completion of their studies in Canada, she asked them to encourage their peers to consider pursuing careers in Hong Kong too. Canadian students can also make use of the working holiday scheme to have a taste of living and working in Hong Kong.
As it was the first day of the Lunar New Year, Miss Chan took the opportunity to wish the students a fruitful and prosperous Year of the Dog. About 40 students joined the gathering.
