HKETO Director welcomes Canadian companies to leverage on the Hong Kong platform

Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO), Ms Emily Mo, joined the “In-Person Visit to Hong Kong in the New Normal - First-Hand Experience Sharing” webinar co-hosted by the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association (Toronto Section), Hong Kong Trade Development Council (Canada), Invest Hong Kong and HKETO on December 19.  This webinar aimed to provide updates and insights on the latest travel arrangement and developments of Hong Kong and the vast business opportunities for Canadian companies to leverage the Hong Kong platform in the new normal.

Speaking at the webinar, Ms Mo first updated participants on the latest developments in Hong Kong and noted the city has resumed international conferences and trade show with the gradual easing of quarantine requirements in the city.

"Hong Kong has lifted the compulsory quarantine requirement for inbound persons from overseas since the end of September 2022, and we are happy to once again be welcoming business entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and tourists to the city.  On December 14, a series of anti-epidemic measures were further adjusted to resume normalcy in the city in an orderly manner.  These included the abolition of “Amber Code” arrangement under the Vaccine Pass to allow non-infected and fully-vaccinated persons to access to various premises freely," Ms Mo said.

The webinar discussed that various successive international events that were held in Hong Kong recently, such as Hong Kong FinTech Week, the Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit and the Hong Kong Forum, with thousands of participants, have signalled to the world that Hong Kong is back.

"It is now the perfect time for you to explore more the business opportunities provided by Hong Kong and today’s speakers will share their first hand experiences on trip preparations as well as overall situation in the city," Ms Mo continued.

Before closing, Ms Mo encouraged participants to join the trade missions to Hong Kong and obtain first hand information about the abundant business opportunities offered by the city.
