Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO), Ms Emily Mo, attended the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition entitled "The Annual Rings of Prosperous Era” to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto on December 15. This exhibition is jointly organised by the Confederation of Toronto Chinese Canadian Organizations and China News Service.
Speaking at the event, Ms Mo noted that the world has witnessed China's remarkable achievements in economic and social development. . Over the past decades, Hong Kong contributed to the development of the Motherland, and benefitted from the prosperity of the Mainland. Today, China is the world's second largest economy with significant influence in the international community.
“Despite the challenges Hong Kong has been facing in recent months, the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People’s Republic of China is determined to resolve the challenges by extensive and in-depth dialogues with the community, and to look into the city’s deep-seated problems,” Ms Mo said.
Ms Mo said that the HKSAR Government is committed to upholding the “one country, two systems” principle, and will continue to play an active role in the country’s Belt and Road Initiative and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development.
