Director of HKETO visits Victoria, Vancouver and Calgary for business promotion

Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto), Ms Emily Mo, visited Victoria, Vancouver and Calgary from May 13 to 15 to promote the unique advantages of doing business in Hong Kong as well as the abundant business opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative.

On May 13, Ms Mo visited the parliament of Victoria to call on British Columbia Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology, Mr Bruce Ralston and Minister of State for Trade of British Columbia, Mr George Chow. She briefed them on the latest developments in Hong Kong and exchanged views with them on Hong Kong-Canada relations. She also attended a lunch meeting with Members of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia Mr John Yap and Ms Teresa Wat, as well as community leaders in Victoria. On the same day, Ms Mo had a meeting with Ms Kerri Moore, Head of Business & Community Relations of the City of Victoria, to understand the latest business development strategy of the city and explored ways to further enhance the bi-lateral trade relations between Victoria and Hong Kong.

On May 14 morning, Ms Mo attended the Public Sector Management Workshop hosted by the Financial Management Institute of Canada in Vancouver and gave a presentation on the Belt and Road Initiative. She highlighted the unique advantages of doing business in Hong Kong as well as invited the participants to encourage and assist Canadian businesses to tap the unprecedented business opportunities offered by the Initiative through the Hong Kong platform.

After the workshop, Ms Mo spoke at a luncheon entitled "Hong Kong - Starting your Belt and Road Journey", hosted by the BC Youth Business Association and BC Women Business Association in Vancouver. She introduced to attending guests the Belt and Road Initiative and the unique role Hong Kong plays in the Initiative. She also encouraged Canadian enterprises to partner with Hong Kong to venture into the Belt and Road region.

After Vancouver, Ms Mo moved on to Calgary on May 15 to attend a lunch workshop organised by the M&A Club Calgary. She gave a presentation on the enormous business opportunities arising from the Belt and Road Initiative for Canada and said that Hong Kong is an ideal platform for Canadian companies to capture these opportunities.

香港經貿處處長到訪維多利亞、溫哥華及卡加里作商貿推廣

香港駐多倫多經濟貿易辦事處(香港經貿處)處長巫菀菁於五月十三日至十五日到訪維多利亞、溫哥華及卡加里,推廣香港獨特的營商優勢,以及「一帶一路」倡議所帶來的商機。

巫菀菁於五月十三日到訪維多利亞議會拜會卑詩省就業、貿易與科技廳長賴賜淳及貿易省務廳長周炯華。巫菀菁向他們簡述香港的最新發展,並與他們就港加關係發展交換意見。巫菀菁同時出席午餐會,與卑詩省省議員葉志明、屈潔冰及維多利亞社區領袖見面。巫菀菁同日亦與維多利亞市商貿及社區關係主管Kerri Moore會面,以了解該市的最新商貿發展策略,並探討進一步加強維多利亞市及香港的雙邊經貿關係的方案。

巫菀菁於五月十四日早上在溫哥華出席由加拿大財務管理學院主辦的公共部門管理研討會,介紹有關「一帶一路」的倡議。巫菀菁重點提到香港獨特的營商優勢,並邀請與會者鼓勵及協助加拿大企業透過香港平台把握「一帶一路」倡議所帶來的無限商機。

緊隨研討會後,巫菀菁在溫哥華出席由卑詩青年商會及卑詩婦女商會合辦的「一帶一路之旅由香港出發」午餐會並致辭。巫菀菁向與會嘉賓介紹「一帶一路」倡議的內容,以及香港在有關倡議所扮演的角色。巫菀菁鼓勵加拿大企業夥拍香港開拓「一帶一路」地區。

巫菀菁於五月十五日由溫哥華轉往卡加里,出席M&A Club卡加里分會舉辦的午餐研討會。巫菀菁在會上介紹「一帶一路」倡議為加拿大帶來的豐富商機,並表示香港是加拿大企業把握這些機會的理想平台。
