Vancouver-based performing group, Dramaonevan, staged two performances of “Noodle of Love” at the Michael J Fox Theatre in Vancouver on September 3.  The performances are part of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Toronto (HKETO)’s programme to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in Canada.

“To celebrate this special occasion, HKETO has organized and supported a series of events across the country to share the joy with our friends in Canada,” Principal Consultant (Western Canada) of HKETO, Ms. Catherine Yuen, spoke before the performances.  “It is against this background that we sponsored Dramaonevan to present this new and very Hong Kong drama, ‘Noodle of Love’, to Vancouver audience, with the aim of further facilitating cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and Canada.”

Ms Yuen also remarked that Hong Kong is a vibrant global city for arts and culture.  “We have a fully packed calendar of high standard performances and exhibitions staged by local artists and arts groups from other places of the world every year.  We are also pressing ahead with the West Kowloon Cultural District project, which will compose of various world-class performing facilities and exhibition venues for different genres of art and reinforce Hong Kong’s status as an international arts and cultural city,” Ms Yuen said.

“Noodle of Love” is a drama about the running of a small noodle shop in Hong Kong.  The story reflects the unique spirit of Hong Kong people, who are flexible, creative, diligent, caring, and resilient to challenges.  “Noodle of Love” was directed by renowned Canadian Hong Kong director, Mr Peter Poon, with the participation of more than 30 performers including Hong Kong singer Annabelle Louie.

A VIP reception was held after the closing performance of “Noodle of Love”.
