The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO) sponsors “Hong Kong Cup -- Calligraphy and Painting Competitions” organised by the Association of Chinese Arts and Literacy Contest for Youth as part of HKETO's programme to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in Canada.
The competitions are part of the “17th Chinese Arts and Literacy Contest for Youth” organised by the Association. It is hoped that interest in Hong Kong could be aroused among the school children of different ages through the competitions. These competitions have been popular among the students in Greater Toronto Area. This year the organiser received an encouraging total of nearly 3,000 entries many of which are of high quality and very creative.
Adjudication of the competitions was carried out at the office of the HKETO. Members of the adjudication panel comprise representatives from the HKETO and alumni associations of nine Hong Kong universities in eastern Canada, including Mr Kan-tin Lee of The Hong Kong Baptist University Alumni Association of Ontario, Ms Susanna Ko of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Alumni Association (Ontario), Mr Stephen Yip of Chu Hai University Alumni Association of East Canada, Mr Wai Wu of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Eastern Canada) Association, Mr Solomon Chan of Lingnam University Alumni Association, Mr John Lai and Mr Tony Lai of Hong Kong Shue Yan University Canada Alumni Association, Mr Dennis Au-Yeung of The Hong Kong University Alumni Association of Ontario, Mr Albert Wan of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Ms Julie Suen of City University of Hong Kong.
Adjudication of the “Hong Kong Cup -- Calligraphy and Painting Competitions” was carried out at the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) today (April 22).
Adjudicators were discussing and exchanging views on the entries.
