HK Immigration delegation visits Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton and Vancouver

A delegation from the Hong Kong Immigration Department visits Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton and Vancouver between March 12 to 18 to promote the various admission schemes and arrangements for talents, professionals, entrepreneurs as well as second generation of Hong Kong emigrants to work or start their business in Hong Kong.

Led by Assistant Principal Immigration Officer (Visa Control) (Operations) Division of the Hong Kong Immigration Department, Mr Chui Ting-Yat, Andy, the 3-member delegation arrived at Toronto on March 12 where the delegation would meet with local students, local Hong Kong community as well as the media.

On March 13, the delegation gave two presentations to students of McMaster University and University of Toronto on the various admission schemes rolled out by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Details of the various admission schemes including their characteristics, eligibility criteria and application procedures were given alongside with the attractive prospects to talents, professionals and entrepreneurs to work and invest in Hong Kong. 

The delegation also paid a courtesy call on the Acting Chinese Consul General in Toronto, Mr Xu Wei, on the same day.

The delegation held a media briefing at the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (Toronto ETO) today (March 14) on the Immigration Department’s efforts in attracting talents to start their career or business in Hong Kong. 

On March 15, the delegation will move to Montreal to exchange with students of McGill University and pay a courtesy call on the Chinese Consul General in Montreal, Mr. Jingtao Peng. In the evening, the delegation will have a dinner gathering with the Hong Kong community in Toronto to share with them the work of the Immigration Department on talents attraction, with particular reference to the Admission Scheme for the Second Generation of Chinese Hong Kong Permanent Residents.

The delegation will continue its trip to Edmonton and Vancouver on March 16 – 17 before returning to Hong Kong in the early morning of March 18.
