The Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan, today (February 16) welcomed the Heritage Foundation's ranking of Hong Kong as the world's freest economy for the 23rd consecutive year.

HKETO Director attends HKCBA Montreal Section Chinese New Year Gala Dinner

The Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO), Miss Kathy Chan, attended the Chinese New Year Gala Dinner of the Hong Kong Canada Business Association (HKCBA) Montreal Section in Montreal on January 31. The dinner was graced by the attendance of the Canadian Federal Minister of International Trade The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Chinese Consul General (Montreal) Peng Jing-tao, Chairman of Executive Committee of the City of Montreal Pierre Desrochers, Mayor of Mount-Royal Philippe Roy, Borough Mayor of Saint Laurent Alan DeSousa, as well as around 200 members of the local business community.

InvestHK StartmeupHK Festival heralds shape of things to come

Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK)'s second StartmeupHK Festival, which opened on January 16 and came to a successful close today (January 20), has drawn well over 5 000 participants to events on subjects ranging from retail innovation and fashion technology to smart cities, financial technology (FinTech) and health technology. The events showed current trends and offered a glimpse of what is to come in the not-too-distant future.

Appointment of Principal Officials announced

The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, announced today (January 16) that the Central People's Government (CPG) had approved the resignation of Mrs Carrie Lam as Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the resignation of Mr John C Tsang as Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The CPG also approved the Chief Executive's recommendation to appoint Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung as Chief Secretary for Administration and Mr Paul Chan as Financial Secretary.
